Service Speaker Kandace Creel Falcon: Change The Joy of Creative Inquiry - (Principle 5 - our visions and dreams matter and can work together)

Children were inspired by the thinking of artist Kandace Creel Falcon, to “question the world around them and to question the assumptions that they've held true… think about possibilities that aren't about these narrow boxes.”

Used creative inquiry as a way to explore big questions about the future. They drew and built a model of their future world which included a Shakespearian theater, a transit system, a food bank, an Amazon warehouse that turned into a thrift store and lots and lots of habitat and food producing land.

Kids worked together to imagine what to build based on questions like Where do wild animals live? Where do people go to school? Do we live in separate buildings? Does everyone grow food or just a few? Where do sick people get helped? Where do old people live?

They used recycling waste, cardboard, cans, cartons. Project based learning, builds people's ability to problem solve and have confidence and patience in their ability to impact the material world and accomplish a goal.
